Classroom Etiquette

Good Vibes

Dance class should be a place where everyone can feel safe stepping outside their comfort zone and express themselves without fear of judgement. For this reason, it is essential that everyone participating comes to class with a positive attitude, shows respect for their fellow dancers, and helps to create a fun, inclusive atmosphere. On the surface, we are coming together to learn some steps and shake our hips, but the dance community is also a place to make connections, encourage each other, and discover ourselves.

We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.

Cellphones and Privacy

Your privacy is very important to us. Your love of dance should be celebrated, but only with your permission. For this reason we have a strict no camera policy. We kindly ask that cellphones remain away during class time. We are happy to allow photos at the end of class, and invite anyone who does not wish to participate to exit the space.

Little Gems

Photo considerations are especially important for our infant and child classes. You may take pictures of your own child, but please do not capture images of any other children without their parents’ permission. If we believe this policy is not being followed, you will be asked to keep your phone away until leaving the premises.

Venue

Indoor shoes are required past the entrance coatroom area. Water bottles are permitted. Due to allergy concerns, we ask that you do not consume food in the dance spaces while other students are present.

Instruments, play silks, ribbon rings, and other props used during the classes are inspected for wear and tear, and cleaned regularly. If you notice any hazards while handling the props with your child, please bring it to the instructors attention immediately so that it may be removed from use.

Products

Our handcrafted Waldorf hand kites (aka ribbon rings) and Waldorf hand kite kits are made from untreated beechwood rings and polyester ribbon. Adult supervision required for use with children under three as the ribbon poses a strangulation risk. They are not intended to be used as a teether. Limited stock is available, as these are crafted to meet the needs of the children attending our classes. Please limit purchase to one ring per child registered. Surplus stock may be available for purchase in future. Speak to your instructor to be notified.
